Starting from a young age, movement has been a part of Charlene’s life. Growing up as a dancer, she has always had a connection to movement and the study of the body and anatomy. She started practicing yoga over 15 years ago when one of her students’ moms invited her to a hot yoga class. Incorporating this practice into her regular dance training came naturally and opened up a whole new way of connecting to her body through breath and more mindful movement.

After practicing for many years, working at various studios on front desks and receiving lots of encouragement from her teachers, Charlene decided to train to become a yoga instructor. In October 2019, she completed her 500-hour Yoga Teacher Training through Modo Yoga International, and has been teaching at various studios throughout the GTA since. Her most recent trainings (2020) include 15-hour Reaching In, Reaching Out Online with New Leaf Foundation (anti-oppression and trauma informed) and SAANA Method Level 2 Online Training (Vinyasa).

As she continues to grow on her journey as an instructor, Charlene remains a curious student, constantly learning from all of her incredible teachers through classes, workshops and mentorships. Not only does she learn from her teachers, but is grateful for all of the lessons she receives from each of her students, embracing every class she teaches as a true energy exchange. She offers classes that are accessible and safe, while leaving space for seasoned practitioners to challenge themselves when they are called to do so.

Charlene’s studies in Psychology have encouraged her to expand the exploration of mental health and well being practices that she can share. She completed her First Degree Reiki studies and continues to explore self-healing within various communities. She loves to cook vegan snacks and meals and is always up for exchanging ideas and recipes!
